About Me
Visual Artist and Designer
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Benjamin began exploring art at a young age through illustrating cartoons and drawing nature. On family vacations to National Parks he carried around a sketchbook and camera to capture the beautiful landscapes. In his teenage years, he fell in love with set designing after taking a class in technical theatre in middle school. He continued set designing until he graduated high school and moved to Ithaca, New York to study Theatre Production and Design at Ithaca College. Through his time there, he assisted professional designers such as Steve Teneyck, Daniel Zimmerman and Jared Mozzeochi, and designed productions of his own. His artwork was also published on Stillwater Magazine. After graduating, he moved to Jerusalem to explore his Jewish Identity as an artist and is currently an arts and culture fellow at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies. Benjamin commutes between Los Angeles and Jerusalem making art along the way.
Benjamin’s skills in set design such as researching, sketching, hand drafting and model building all play a crucial rule in his artistic process . Benjamin’s artwork is primarily done with ink, color pencil, and marker but also does work in gouache and oil paint. Ben aims to share his visions and concepts with the world as a Jewish man in the 21st century. Ben is also working to build a brand for each style of art he works in, including Jewish art, outdoor art and spiritual art. Ben incorporates psychedelic patterns and bright colors to emphasize the beauty of the world Hashem has built for us. Through his style, he hopes to bridge the gaps between mind, heart, body, universe (and Torah).
